   *Note that on the side the mug is signed by artist William H. Shelton, who painted it. Shelton was a friend of Col. Henry Dorr, owner of the Childwold Park Hotel, and had been a prisoner with him during the Civil War. Shelton often stayed with Dorr in the summer. See the 1902 newspaper article in the Historical Documents before 1948 page of this website. The mug is now in the collection of the Military History Society of Rochester.

Possibly from the hotel era. Manufactured by Shepard Mfg. Co. of Massachusetts, which was in business from around 1893-1923. Thanks to Sue Smeby for this image and info.
